ASANA ALWAYS

we are always in Asana
every moment
always making an Asana out of our-selves
in one way
or
another
.....
employing all aspects of ourselves

my current physical shape is quite simply a posture
a shape in space
for a time

"YOGA" asana is simply to bring awareness to that shape
awareness, consciousness, presence, attention
same same

when i practise YOGA asana
i am learning to be aware of the physical shapes that i make on my mat
(my little mobile laboratory,
exploration centre)

how they are experienced in and through the central nervous system
how they feel to hold
what emotions they stir up
and what thoughts accompany them

emotional/mental asanas
are the same
what mental/emotional shapes do i adopt habitually
and do how do they shape and benefit my daily experience
mental and emotional asanas are almost one in the same
interwoven ….
bound
the thought/emotion "chicken or the egg" cycle

to simply become aware of my "posturing"
the strong one
the helpful one
the helpless one
the happy one
the confidant
the confused
the victim
the manipulator
the leader
the follwer

none are right or wrong
its not about that
just watching curiously and seeing the effects
do these postures benefit me or others
do they harm me or others
are they "skillful"
( I love this word - there is no judgement )
are they efficient
do they assist or hinder giving what i or others need

simply looking with
honesty and curiosity
acceptance and compassion
can transform my daily experience into an art
the art of efficient living

there is nothing that i cannot discover
about my self or the universe
on my mat
